The Glorious Recital was an effort to showcase Qur'anic recitation as an art form. Held in the Reid Hall, Edinburgh, it presented itself as an opportunity for fringe festival participants to appreciate something different and unique.
For our part we filmed the event on three cameras (two active, one passive) and post produced the film for DVD distribution on behalf of the organisers.
Sound was recorded digitally on seperate channels for each mic by the event technician and was digitally dubbed onto the film after editing, ensuring the highest possible audio quality reproduction - essential on a work like this.
The DVD was produced in a standard chapter format, with each recitation accessible from a menu with thumbnails, or the option to play from start to finish. Flowing translation was added in superimposed subtitle format.
